Dennis J. Leckrone

Dennis J. Leckrone, age 58, of Andover, Ohio, died Thursday, November 16, 2017, at his home. He was born June 10, 1959, in Bellevue, OH, a son of Robert L. and Dolores C. "Dee" (Drompp) Leckrone. A 1977 graduate of Bellevue High School in Bellevue, OH, Dennis worked through his teen years at a hardware store where he gained much of his knowledge that would help him in operating a campground later in life. He was employed by the Park Service where he helped construct, plan, and maintain Cuyahoga Valley Parks; and later on was employed by Norfolk Southern in Bluefield, WV. In 1981, he and his parents moved to Andover, Ohio, where they jointly owned and operated Wildwood Acres Campground for 36 years together. Dennis had loved camping since childhood and was proud to be a part of Wildwood Acres. In earlier years, Dennis enjoyed traveling to the Keys where he would scuba dive; and he also enjoyed snow skiing and snowmobiling. Dennis is survived by his father, Robert Leckrone of Andover, OH; David P. Leckrone, brother, of Sandusky,OH, Dale A. Leckrone, brother, of Huron,OH, Susan D. Leckrone, sister, of Sarasota, FL; 6 nieces, Jessica Branagan of Canonsburg, PA, Jaclyn Leckrone of Nashville, TN, McKenna Leckrone of Sandusky,OH, Alison Leckrone of Chicago, IL, Angie Leckrone of Sandusky, OH, and San Li Leckrone of Sandusky,OH; 5 great nieces; and an uncle, Thomas Drompp of Punta Gorda, FL. Dennis is preceded in death by his mother, Dee Leckrone; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Ellen Drompp; and paternal grandparents, Edgar and Faye Leckrone. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH, with Rev. Ric Harvel officiating.
