Eugene V. Romeo

Eugene V. Romeo, age 77, died Friday, November 21, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, OH. He was born June 12, 1937, in New Kensington, PA, a son of Samuel and Mary (Palletta) Romeo. Eugene was a 1955 graduate of New Kensington High School; and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a field service engineer for Unysis Corporation, retiring in 2002 after many years of service. He was a member of St. Pete's Catholic Church in New Kensington. Eugene was a kind, hard working, and gentle person who was a good provider for his family. He was a member of the VFW in Lower Burrell, PA; and he belonged to the P.V. Fitness Center in Andover and had joined many YMCA's over the years. Eugene enjoyed staying at Holiday Camplands in Andover and all the many friends he made there. Eugene is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Swartz) Romeo, whom he married May 24, 2003, of Andover; daughter, Terryl K. (Steven) Duea of Otsego, Minnesota; son, Thomas Eugene Romeo of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Stacey D. (Richard) Waye of Annapolis, MD; step daughter, Cheryl L. Garrison of Dayton,OH; step daughter, Charmayne D. (David) Laurito of Beavercreek, OH; step son, Donald L. Hecker of Glassport, PA; step daughter, Deborah A. Hecker of Pittsburgh, PA; step son, Scott D. Hecker of New Kensington, PA; 2 grandsons, Matthew T. Duea and Nathan M. Duea; 8 step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one brother, Ronald Romeo of San Diego, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph Romeo, Sr. and Richard O. Romeo; and one sister, Theresa Romeo Kurick. A Celebration of Eugene's life will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 12:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to VFW Post 92, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Rd., Lower Burrell, PA 15068.
