Helen M. Martindale

Helen M. Martindale, age 93, of Gustavus township, Ohio, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at her home. She was born May 7, 1920, in Gustavus township, Ohio, a daughter of Lewis and Mary (Noble) Davis. A lifelong area resident, Helen was a graduate of Greene High School. She was a homemaker; and enjoyed quilting, sewing, and playing the organ. She was a member of the Greene Church of the Nazarene. Helen married Edmond D. Martindale on October 23, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 9,1990. She is also preceded by her parents; her son, Alvin Martindale in 1969; one sister, Martha Newton; and three brothers, Miland, Wilmer, and Raymond Davis. She is survived by her two daughters, Doris Wells of Vernon township, OH, and Carolyn Smuzinsky of Gustavus township, OH; two grandchildren, three step grandchildren; and two sisters, Marcella Bingle of Fombell, PA, and Thelma Alborn of Barberton,OH. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Greene Church of the Nazarene, 8916 St. Rt. 46, N. Bloomfield, OH 44450, with Pastor James Elkin officiating. Private burial will take place in Gustavus Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday, March 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH, and on Friday, March 7th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church.
