Thelma M. Lahner

Thelma May Lahner, age 85, of Wayne township, OH, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, PA. She was born at home in Westford, PA, on May 16, 1932 to Wilbur Clark Cleland and Sylvia Thelma (Schlecht) Cleland. Mrs. Lahner was a graduate of Jamestown High School. She married Robert "Bob" Lahner on September 22, 1956. They lived together in Wayne township for 61 years where they owned and operated a dairy farm. She worked at M & M Co. and Blazon in Jamestown and at Locke Machine in Andover. Mrs. Lahner loved to work and was very dedicated to serving her church. In earlier years, she attended the Westford United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and secretary for Sunday School and library. She was a longtime member at the First Congregational Church of Wayne where she also served as Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, taught Bible School, served as Church Deaconess, and was Missionary President and Vice President. She also helped with dinners and community outreach by sending cards. Mrs. Lahner is survived by her brother, William Warren Cleland of Westford, PA; her sister, Alice L. Youngblood of Ridgeland, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband on May 28, 2016; daughter, Darlene Sylvia Lahner; son, Jack Alan Lahner; and two sisters, Almeta J. Cleland and Doris I. Patton. Calling hours will be held this Monday, January 15, 2018, at 3:00 PM directly followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at the Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH, with Rev. Bob Coleman and Rev. Lori Coleman officiating. A private burial will take place in Hayes Cemetery, Wayne township, OH.
