Karl H. Reimer

Karl H. Reimer, age 78, of Johnston township, OH, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren,OH. He was born August 4, 1940, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a son of Arthur H. and Clara E. (Leeson) Reimer. Their family moved to Scranton, PA, and then to Ashtabula, OH, where Karl graduated in 1958 from Harbor High School. Following graduation, he was employed as a typesetter for the Ashtabula Star Beacon. He then served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed several times overseas in Italy, Japan, and Germany. After his service Karl was employed by Ohio Bell for 32 years, retiring in 2002. Karl was a member of the Rock of Grace Family Ministries Church in Kinsman, where he served in the Cafe; and was a former member of the Andover Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was active in the Second Harvest Food Bank for many years; and active as a camp counselor and bus driver for the Deep Valley Christian Camp in Pennsylvania. Karl was always very involved with the youth; and he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Karlene K. (Kidwell) Reimer, whom he married July 13, 1985, of Johnston township,OH; son, Larry (Robin) Pelton of Fowler, OH; daughter, Natalie (Bob) Sloban of Andover,OH; son, Shane Reimer of Athens, OH; daughter, Laurie (Jeff) Jones of Farmdale, OH; sister, Barb (Robert) Sherwood of Boiling Springs, SC; 9 grandchildren, Dustin, Kaitie, Chris, Corey, Christine. Amanda, Eric, Collette, and Kyle; and 2 great grandchildren, Gavin and Landen. He is preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 5:00 PM at the Rock of Grace Family Ministries Church, 6745 St. Rt.5, Kinsman,OH, with Pastor Jordan Biel and Pastor Mark Biel officiating. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
