Champion, Ohio - Andrew Richard Amodio, Jr., age 83, died on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, while surrounded by his family after a short stay at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, Ohio. He was born on December 1, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Julia Helen (Malfair) and Andrew Richard Amodio, Sr. Andy was a 1958 graduate of North Jackson High School. He proudly served in the United States Army with the 511TH from October 1961 until October 1964. For two years, Andy was stationed in Germany, where he met his first wife Ursula Zacherl. She died in an auto accident in 1968.

On June 17, 1978, he married Julie Ann Panak. Andy worked for General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, for over thirty-two years, retiring in 1997. On the side and in his retirement, Andy kept busy sealing driveways for Sureline Construction of Cortland, Ohio. He attended Journey Christian Church of Cortland, Ohio.

Andy loved to be outside and was active in golfing, bowling, hunting, and fishing. For over twenty years, you could find him at the diamond umpiring, a local baseball or softball game for area schools. He was a huge sports fan, cheering on the Cleveland Indians or the Dallas Cowboys. Andy attended the Joseph Badger Braves sports games, even when he had no kiddo on the team. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Gary Miller, Robert, and Peter Amodio. Ursula (Mother of Karen and David). Survivors include his wife Julie of forty-six years; four children, Karen S. (James) Shreve of Niles, Ohio, David R. Amodio of Howland, Ohio, Vicki L. (Jarod) Pompeii of Southington, Ohio, and Brian M. (Katie) Wilson of Howland, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Benjamin, Maddie, Caleigh, Erika, Katie, Case, Haley, Alix, and Maxwell; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Avery, and Lily; a sister, Jennifer (Ed) Greggs of Hartford, Ohio; and a brother, Nick (Sue) Amodio of Niles, Ohio.

Private services with military honors will be held by the family.
