Edward J. Hnida, 72 yrs old, of Williamsfield, OH, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at home. Edward was born April 15, 1931 in Sharon, PA. A long time Williamsfield resident, Mr. Hnida was a 1948 graduate of West Middlesex High School. He also earned a Structural Engineering degree from Chicago Technical College in 1949, and was a graduate of the National Hardwood Lumber Association in Memphis, TN. Mr. Hnida was employed by Newcomb Lumber Company in Andover for 30 years. Most recently, he worked for Valley Veneer and Lumber Company in Williamsfield. He also drove school bus for Pymatuning Valley Schools. Mr. Hnida was a member of the West Williamsfield First Congregational Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a military policeman in Korea. He was an avid harness racing fan and owner, and he enjoyed all sports. Mr. Hnida married Beth E. (Banning) on December 4, 1967. Preceding him in death is his father-in-law, Ward E. Banning. He is survived by his wife, Beth E. Hnida of Williamsfield, OH; his son John E. (Jennifer) Hnida of Liberty, OH; his daughter, Natalie E. Hnida of Middletown, OH; his grandchildren, Hannah E. and Erik I. Hnida of Liberty, OH; and his special Mother-in-law, Grace F. Banning of Farmdale, OH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2003, at 10:00a.m. at the West Williamsfield First Congregational Church, St. Rt. 322, Williamsfield, OH, with Pastor Oscar Grant and Father Paul Wysocki officiating. Burial will follow in West Williamsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family.
