Ethel J. Rayner, 76 years old, of Johnston, Ohio, died on Thursday, September 9, 2004, at home. Ethel was born on September 10, 1927, in Gustavus, Ohio, to the late Julius Ragalyi and the late Julia (Szabo) Ragalyi. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Rayner was a graduate of Gustavus School and she attended Youngtstown State University. She retired from Maplewood Schools in 1991, where she was employed as a Cook and Maplewood East for 20 years. Mrs. Rayner was a member of the Johnston Federated United Methodist church. Her hobbies included gardening, bowling, sewing, quilting, reading, and baking. Ethel married Louis Rayner, Jr. on August 2, 1947. He died on June 15, 1988. She was preceded death by her husband, her parents, and a brother. She is survived by her son, Bruce (Micah) Rayner of West Des Moines, IA; her son, Clifford Rayner of Fowler, OH; her daughter, Deborah Masaitis of Johnston, OH; her granddaughter, Rebecca Marie Rayner of Berea, OH; her sister, Margaret Klare-Ragalyi of Warren, OH; her brother, Julius (Lois) Ragalyi of Gustavus, OH; and her brother, Elmer Ragalyi of Warren, OH. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 13, 2004, at 11:00a.m. at Baumgardner Fuenral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Pastor Jeff Coggins officiating. Burial will follow in Johnston Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday, September 12, 2004, from 2p.m. to 4p.m. and also on Monday from 10:00a.m. until the time of service.
