Joan D. Snow, 72 years old, of Andover, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003, in the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. Joan was born in Conneaut, Ohio, on December 30, 1930, to the late Helen (Thayer) Heckman and the late William C. Heckman. Formerly of Conneaut, Mrs. Snow has lived in Andover since 1964. She was employed as a secretary for the former Astatic Corporation in Conneaut for nine years. She was also co-owner of Snow's Restaurant in Andover with her husband for ten years. Mrs. Snow was then employed as secretary/accountant for Pymatuning State Park for over 17 years, retiring in 1991. Mrs. Snow attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Andover. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, playing the organ, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was also a long time fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. Mrs. Snow married Norman D. Snow, Sr., on July 8, 1949. He died December 1, 1991. Also preceding her in death are her parents and one brother, Robert Heckman. She is survived by her daughter Gail A. (Maynard) Lahti of Williamsfield, OH, daughter, Penny (Steve) Forsythe of Chardon, OH; his son, Norman D. (Cindy) Snow, Jr. of Espyville, PA; her sister, Betty Griffey of Clarmont, FL; Grandchildren, Emily Pittman, Nick Coe, Chad White, Rachel Snow; Great-Grandchild, Lily Pittman. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003, at 1:30p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Proscpect St., Andover, Ohio, with Reverend Scott Ressman officiating. Burial of cremated remains will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Andover at a later date. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. at the funeral home.
