Joseph W. Osika,

Joseph W. Osika, Sr., 80 years old, of Andover, Ohio, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at home. Mr. Osika was born on May 1, 1924, in McKeesport, PA, to the late John Osika and the late Anna (Lasko) Osika. Formerly of Camden, New Jersey, Mr. Osika was an Andover resident since 1967. Mr. Osika was a bulb blower for General Electric for over 18 years, retiring in 1985. He married Helen Marie Huber on April 16, 1952. She died on July 21, 1988. Mr. Osika was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Quincy in the Asiatic Pacific and European theaters. He enjoyed playing poker and bingo, fishing, working on puzzles, attending auctions and garage sales. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Along with his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Marie Harvan, Ann Orenak, Helen Daerr; six brothers, John, Michael, Albert, Stephen and George "Topsy"; Osika and Andrew O'Shea; and a niece Barbara Morford. He is survived by his three sons, Joseph W. Osika, Jr. of Andover, OH; Michael J. Osika of Ashtabula, OH; and Martin J. (Helen) Osika of Kinsman, OH; his three daughters, Mary G. (Daniel) Thompson of Ashtabula, OH; Helene M. Osika of Andover, OH; and Martha M. (William) Revelt of Andover, OH; his niece Paula (Robert) Hilton of Conneaut Lake, PA; his long time companion, Elizabeth "Libby" Mason of Jefferson, OH; many nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 11:00a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 481 South Main Street, Andover, Ohio, with Father David Misbrener officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 1, 2005, from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio.
