June M. Difford, 82 years old, of Kinsman, Ohio, died February 21, 2005, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. June lived most of her life in Kinsman. She and her husband, Leo, moved to Michigan about a year ago to be close to their daughters and family. June was born June 26, 1922, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to John and Alma (Bishop) Gakel. She was a 1940 graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Lincoln Business College in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was employed for 12 years as a General Motors accountant for Boyd Motors in Kinsman. She was last employed by the law firm of Hoppe, Frey, Hewitt and Milligan in Warren, Ohio. June was active in the community and church. She was a 59 year member of the Kinsman United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Charity Circle and served in various offices of the church. June was always known for her interesting book reports that she gave at church events. She was Charter Secretary and past President of the Kinsman Area Business and Professional Women. June was an avid reader and she enjoyed collecting cardinal and mice figurines. On June 17, 1943, she married Leo W. Difford in St. Paul Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. The service was performed by the late Bishop Gerald Kennedy. She is survived by her husband, Leo W. Difford; two daughters and their husbands, Dianne and Joe Baldridge, and Deborah and Jim Heinold, both of Saline, Michigan; three grandsons, Ryan and Reed Caldwell and Kurt Heinold; and two great grandsons, Jake and Derek Caldwell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Gakel. She was truly a beloved wife and mother and will be missed by her family and friends. A funeral service will be on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at 11:00a.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, Ohio. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, February 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
