Marion E. Brainard, 71 years old, of Farmdale, OH, died on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA. Marion was born on February 12, 1933, in Greenville, PA, to the late Eugene Vanderslice and the late Sophie E. (Amy) Vanderslice. Formerly of Greenville, PA, Mrs. Brainard was a Gustavus resident for over 50 years. She married William D. Brainard on April 12, 1951. Mrs. Brainard was a member of the Reform Church of Greenville, PA. She worked as a machine operator for Kennametal of Orwell for several years, then waitressed for Time Square Restaurant and Caroselli's Restaurant in Kinsman for many years. Mrs. Brainard enjoyed reading, dancing, playing with her grandchildren, watching television, and she was a Shirley Temple fan. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leo D. Brainard in 1984, two brothers, Stanley and Fred Vanderslice and a sister Nora Cummings. She is survived by her husband, William D. Brainard of Gustavus, OH; her daughter, Kathie D. (David) Mokri of Gustavus, OH; her son, Bruce D. (Dorraine) Brainard of Gustavus, OH; her son, Gary L. (Dee) Brainard of Hartford, OH; her three sisters, Alice Brunot of Meadville, PA; Martha Hanich of Watauga, TX; and Jeannette Letcher of Greenville, PA; her grandchildren, Heidi, Craig, Jeff, Jeremy, Kyle, Trina, Charles, Joshua, Lindsay and Shawn; her great grandson, Dylan. A memorial service will be held at the Gustavus Federated Church, 8850 State Rt. 193, Gustavus, Ohio, on Saturday, February 12, 2005, at 11:00a.m. with Rev. Steven W. Trimble officiating. No calling hours will be held. Private burial of cremated remains will be in Gustavus Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Baumgardner Funeral Home, Kinsman, Ohio.
