Walter Robert Titus, 88 years old, of Kinsman, Ohio, died on Sunday, August 29, 2004, at home. Walter was born on October 7, 1915, in Johnston, Ohio, to the late Walter A. Titus and the late Edith I. (McCarney) Titus. Formerly of Johnston, Mr. Titus has been a resident of Kinsman since 1950. He received his Bachelor Degree from Ohio State University and his Master's Degree in School Administration from Pitt University. He retired from the Trumbull County Board of Education, and taught and coached at several Trumbull County school systems with the majority of his career spent in Kinsman and Maplewood School Districts. Mr. Titus served in the U.S. Navy as an aerological officer in Florida during World War II. He was a long time member of the Kinsman United Methodist Church, where he served as lay delegate to the East Ohio Conference and as trustee for many years. He was also a member of the Trumbull County Retired Teachers Association and a member and officer of the National Beta Club. His hobbies included gardening and golfing. He also enjoyed watching sports as an avid Cleveland Indians and Ohio State University Buckeyes fan. Mr. Titus married Rosalind M. (Kiser) on October 2, 1971. Preceding him in death his parents; his daughter, Therese Anne Titus; two grandchildren, Tammy Lee Kopp and Victor E. Kopp; and his brother, Harold "Gordon" Titus. He is survived by his wife, Rosalind M. Titus of Kinsman, OH; his three daughters, Barbara (Henry) Evans of Sioux Falls, SD; Jean (Tim) Compan of Greene, OH; and Peg Kopp of Gustavus, OH; his son, Tom (Ruthie) Titus of Poland, OH; his sister, Anna Mary Shanks of Ada, OH; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2004, at 11:00a.m. at the Kinsman United Methodist Church, 8362 Main St., Kinsman, Ohio, with Rev. Marian Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow in Gustavus Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 1st from 4p.m. to 8p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, Ohio.
