Forest H. Miller

d. October 1, 2009

Forest Hudson Miller, age 87, of Gustavus Township, OH, died Thursday, October 1, 2009, peacefully with his family by his side. He was born April 30, 1922, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, the son of Walter I. and Marguerite (Hudson) Miller. A lifelong area resident, Forest, along with his brother, Lawrence, his two sons, and his nephew, was owner of W.I. Miller and Sons in Gustavus. As a long time grain farmer, Forest was very much a steward of the land and was well versed on land conservation. One of his greatest prides in life was the fact that he was privileged to get up every morning and work the land alongside his sons, his brother, his nephew, and grandchildren. Forest was never one to shy away from a good conversation, especially if it involved farming. He loved to share many stories with his grandchildren about his life and times of many years ago. Besides farming, Forest loved traveling and had visited many countries on several continents. He also enjoyed the love of cars, trucks, and semis. His favorite pasttime was going out to eat fish on Fridays and enjoying popcorn on Sunday nights with his family. Forest also drove school bus for Joseph Badger School District for 25 years. He was a Gustavus Township Trustee for 28 years; a lifelong member of the Gustavus Federated Church; was a member of the Farm Bureau, Gustavus Grange, Ohio Seed Improvement Association since 1947; and served on the Trumbull County Soil and Water Conservation District Board. Forest is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie V. (Sutton) Miller, whom he married August 25, 1945; his daughter, Darlene (Michael) Thomas of Golden, Colorado, two sons, Robert (Patti) Miller and Dean (Leslie) Miller, both of Gustavus Township, his daughter, Janet (Virgil Jr.) Houser of Gustavus Township; his eight grandchildren, Abbey Miller (Douglas) Bacconi , Sarah Miller (Mickey) Moyer, Evan Thomas, Ben (Lisa) Miller, Adam Houser, Ashley Houser, Katelyn Miller, and Clay Miller; and five great grandchildren, Mikayla Thomas Turner, Isaiah Jones, Alinee Bacconi, Myleigh Moyer, and Hudson Miller; and his sister, Evelyn M. Cox of Englewood, Florida. Preceding him in death are his parents; and brother, R. Lawrence Miller. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, OH, with Rev. Karl Bucey officiating.
